The Story of our Founding Mama, Hope. Rescued in 2007 from a dilapidated barn in TN, Hope was desperately trying to protect her 9 three-week old puppies from rats attempting to eat them. Hope travelled her pathway to hope in the middle of the night to what would become her forever home. The puppies were filled with fleas and parasites; Hope had some behavioral challenges due to the abuse she had suffered, and one of her puppies became critically ill. Despite the obstacles, the Hofer family adopted Hope, and her special needs puppy Cole, and had an amazing 11 years with them.

Hope’s rescue was the inspiration for A Pathway to Hope. As we cared for and placed her puppies, we faced special needs, medical bills, behavioral challenges and human challenges. Through navigating the up's and down's of the rescue world, we envisioned what the rescue should and could be. From this vision A Pathway to Hope was officially founded in 2010.

 

Through the past 15 years, we expanded our original mission focusing on huskies and malamutes to a needs based rescue. We concentrated on urgent needs in our community as we expanded to include feral cats, pit bulls, behavioral needs, seniors and providing urgent medical care to all breeds of cats and dogs.

 In 2021, we purchased Hope’s Home, a rescue foster home and sanctuary housing those animals who have nowhere else to be. Hope’s Home provides resident with intensive medical and behavioral care to meet their special needs and prepare them for forever homes.

​

A Pathway to Hope is a needs-based rescue, 100% volunteer and foster based. We will continue to be a beacon of hope for lost and abandoned animals right here in our geographical area as well as beyond, as the needs arise.
